The brief set was as follows:
Imagine a world with highlands and lowlands, places that are barren or lush, places that are cool and moist or hot and dry. Imagine a sea that floods this land many times and each time it traps the the animals that live here on small islands with very different qualities where they remain for long stretches of time before the water recedes and allows them to mingle again before the next flood.

Explain the theory of evolution to a five year old using the natural history of the Quibble. How would this generalised animal evolve on different islands? How would the differently evolved Quibbles relate to each other when the water receded and the islands connected? Would they quibble ..... ?

We also had a little drawing of a quibble that I redrew quickly and coloured in. It's the creature I'm going to adapt for this mini project.
It's quite difficult explaining something I don't know much about, so I did a little research on evolution, and found this rather insightful youtube clip:
