For this brief, I decided to tackle it by creating a random island that has two distinct types of terrain on it; Forest/Marshland and a sort of Mountain/Rocky terrain. The Quibble live on this island in the middle of the two extreme terrain. In order to show this clearly, I created a map for it.
However, this island became severely flooded, and the middle ground split, cutting the island in half and forcing the Quibble to go toward the two different areas on the map in order to survive.
As the quibble migrated to the two different areas of the island, they began to change and develop new features to their bodies over time in order for them to adapt to the land and survive.
The Quibble living in the mountain terrain became more sleek and lizard like. As there is not much water around, they lost their shell and long feet, and their arms and legs became more thick as they developed muscles in order to help them climb up the rocky surfaces better. Their skin became thicker and more reptile like.
The Quibble living in the Forrest/Marshland stayed quite similar to their original design, but developed and adapted in some areas in order for them to survive the new terrain.
They became a little more sleek, a little more hairy and developed claws on their feet to help them dig and climb trees. As there is a lot of water in the terrain, murky lakes are often found there, so the Quibble's ability to swim developed and it kept it's shell and fish like tail. It's two front teeth became sharper as they use it to help them catch their prey when they are digging for food.
